New Marriage Law (Training for Professionals)

June 14th, 12.30 - 1.15 pm on Zoom

Last month the legal age of marriage and civil partnerships in England and Wales was raised to 18 in the Marriage & Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022.

The hope is that this new law will transform the life chances of many girls, particularly those at risk of forced marriage.

To find out more about Forced Marriage and how the new law will impact on this, LAWC is running this 45-minute briefing workshop.

If you’ve not done any training previously in forced marriage, you may also want to join one of our ‘Forced marriage and honour-based abuse’ introductory sessions on 16th June and 8th July.

Further details of all the training sessions and events we can offer for professionals can be found here. Unless stated otherwise, most sessions are open to both women and men professionals and are offered free of charge.

What we do

Luton All Women’s Centre (LAWC) has been supporting women and girls living in Luton and Bedfordshire since the early 1990s. Offering a wide-range of advisory, information, practical and holistic support services, our aim is to challenge gender inequality and empower women and girls to enjoy lives that are safer, healthier and fairer.
Counselling

Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, abuse, bereavement or any other distressing issue in your life, it can be easy to feel alone or that everything has moved beyond your point of control. Counselling provides the opportunity to talk with someone about how you’re feeling in a wholly supportive, confidential and non-judgemental environment. At Luton All Women’s Centre, professional counselling is an ongoing and vital part of the holistic support we offer to our clients.

Our centre provides a wide range of services which aim to help vulnerable women in Luton with this area of their lives.
