Our colleague, Lucky Begum has been shortlisted in this year’s Luton’s Best Awards in the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ category, sponsored by London Luton Airport.

Now, there is also a chance for her to become the recipient of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ but we need your support to achieve this. Please vote before the deadline of 25th November.

Sadly, Lucky won’t see this as she lost her battle with COVID earlier this year. During her life, Lucky was passionate about helping women from Luton who were affected by issues like domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based abuse to get all the help and support they needed.

She was a positive force in the lives of everyone she came across; was driven to do everything she could for the local community; and was a true pioneer in her field. Lucky’s infectious smile and vibrant, warm personality stole the heart of so many people.

Here at LAWC, we’re all still grieving her loss but feel this would be a really special way to keep her spirit alive. These awards, in partnership with Love Luton, celebrate the achievements of all the truly remarkable individuals and organisations who make Luton a better place and Lucky was definitely one of those people.

Voting is now open so please vote for Lucky here.
